Mira Zuraika's Brother's Wedding @ Keramat (Saturday, 31st May 2008)

Salam,

After we bid goodbye to Nadzrah, we headed to the crib of another bestfriend of mine, Mira Zuraika. It was her eldest brother's wedding so again we filled in our stomachs with more food but this time we were served with Nasi Kampung. Ummi and Nana they came to join us later.

This time we had such a good time karaokeing many songs from Ella's Rama-Rama to Azharina's Elegi Sepi, but nobody could beat the non-stop-promoting-himself DJ Mazlan. It was hillarious. We had so many good pics but yes I have lost them. So these are the remaining ones which Mira have edited. FYI Mira is a freelance photographer so I think her work is just so nice.

Mira looks so good here. The original pic.

After the editing using Photoshop.

Nadzrah's Brother's Wedding Ceremony @ Dewan TTDI (Saturday, 31st May 2008)

Salam,

I went for my classmate's brother's wedding at TTDI with my bestfriend Ina. Basically we ate a huge amount of Nasi Bryani Gam Johor since Nad's family is from Johor. Nadzrah looked so angelic in her turquoise Baju Kurung, pale pink shades of make-up and angelic hair-do. Unfortunately I have lost the photos when I have corrupted my external hard disk. So these are photos of Ina & I which I have uploaded on Myspace, photos of us beaming for the camera.

*I try my best not to use the term cam-whoring, that is just so trashy

Memang teringin nak jadi model ubat gigi tapi tak tercapai lagi :p

Engagement Make-up @ Batu 8 1/2, Gombak, Selangor

Salam,

Shasha, this 18 year old sweet young lady here is a friend of mine, so it would always be hillarious to do a make-over for your own friend since there would be endless chatting and laughing, mostly because she was getting more and more nervous by the minute. Especially due to the hot weather and guests kept coming in, so everybody way sweating. Not to fret, trying to cool down a nervous future fiancée is also a part of my job :)

As for the look, she wanted to have a classic Malay lady look. So I applied classical shades such as gold eyeshadow and reddish lipstick on her. As for the hair, I did curls for her and put a white rose in her hair (I am a big fan of having flowers in the hair). Of course a veil completes the whole look.

Akad Nikah (Solemnization Ceremony) Make-up @ Taman Tun Dr. Ismail

Salam,

After having such a long day yesterday, with the Wanita Hari Ini shoot in the noon and my nieces' birthday party till early morning, I really thought I lost all my energy. However duty calls and after dawn I had to rush to TTDI to attend my client to do her bridal make-up.

It was an emotional Akad Nikah / Solemnization ceremony for my client here because she had a tragic first marriage. I had tears in my eyes when I heard her letting it out but of course I had to be professional to do my best in giving her the best look. After she was completely ready, her adorable daughter did not even recognise her own mother! Well I felt good and bad at the same time for that :p

As for my client here, well as fated by Allah and we would never know how He decides on our lives, she was hitched with her old schoolmate that she never had thought would be her husband. I pray for your happiness with your husband as well as for your daughter, may this initiate a new beautiful beginning for you.

Surprise Slumber Birthday Party for my darling nieces, the M&Ms! @ PNB Darby Park, Jalan Ampang, KL

Salam,

The date I am updating this post is actually 31st October 2009 and yes my personal blog has been pending for more than a year. I kept procrastinating in updating my blog because I had a busy and hectic time which did not allow me to prioritize my blog. This semester is my final semester insha Allah in IIUM, and I went for Hajj last year altogether with launching my new online boutique Abaya Suraya in February 2009 so I was busy managing both my website and online boutique, so my personal blog was silent in hiatus.

Added up by the fact I was introduced to the Wedding Dash game by my 9 year old cousin, Athirah and I became addicted to it. When I knew another cousin of mine Athiyah has the game in her laptop, I transferred the game to my external hard disk (which had all the photos for my blog) and guess what? I successfully corrupted the hard disk, thanks to my addiction to Wedding Dash.

Now I am trying to pick up the pieces by still updating the drafts I have saved previously, hopefully getting the help from the pics I have uploaded on Facebook so I hope I will somehow manage to update my blog. I had a memorable 2008, so I just have to be a little patient (I hope some of you will too) before my blog can live in the present time space.

Now back to the past..

___________________________________

On Friday, 23rd May 2008 I had a really big day actually where I had the live shoot for Wanita Hari Ini where I had to testify the benefits of Brand's Prune Essence in the capacity of a law student cum freelance make-up artiste, therefore the Prune Essence assists me in sustaining my balance as a person with a hectic schedule. UNFORTUNATELY, you know what I have lost my photos with Sharifah Shawati, Atie AF who were also the guests along with me for the segment. Anyway I had the shoot at Great Eastern Mall, Ampang. You know what, I had been on tv before but that was my first live telecast seriously when the crew made the countdown and they said 'ON AIR' I COULD FEEL THAT MY CHEEKS WERE SHAKING. Seriously, live telecast really made me nervous compared to pre-recorded dramas or programmes where you can cut and repeat.

Ok moving on, for the previous few weeks my sister and I had been busy helping my eldest female cousin (yet the craziest) Kak Nurul to prep the surprise birthday party for her beautiful girls Misha who was turning 7 and Aminda who was turning 5. She planned to have it as a Slumber Party at the PNB Darby Park's spacious suite so it turned out really nice. Right after the Wanita Hari Ini shoot, I rushed with my sister to meet her to prep the place. Basically it was not that difficult because we have packed the party gifts, and the place was beautifully and of course in a fun way was decorated with colourful ballons by Party Buzz or Balloon Buzz can't recall its name.

Seriously it was exhausting for Deena and even Kak Nurul to get the perfect shot of jumping.

Shiny colourful balloons which remind me of giant M&M's chocolates.

My crazy cool cousin, Kak Nurul.

Yup, Nana again.

Erkk?

Ha..that's better, sweeter :)

In our pajamas, the adults are ready to PARTAYYY!

The girls were ushered into a big, loud 'Surprise!' :p

It was really exciting to see the girls entering the room with friends and family waiting to surprise them. Especially Misha who is matured for a 7 year old, was all touched by the preparations. Both of them are sweet darlings, they deserve such a party.

The happy family, Kak Nurul & Abang AJ with their darling daughters.

The girls with Misha's schoolmates. Mostly from the CBN Gymastics Team. These girls have names which are almost too similar such as Amisha, Akeesha, Alisya, Ateena, Arisha etc.

I love this pic. It is just so colourful especially with the Barbie birthday cakes to complete the girlish night.

Two very beloved siblings. my dearest Misha & Minda.

After the kids played Twister (it was a really long session since the girls are CBN's Gymnasts, so everybody was veyr flexible and had a long time hanging on in the game), we asked the boys to join the girls doing a colouring session. Winners of course received the prizes. :)

Nana just could not get away from playing with the balloons. :p

CBN's Gymnasts. Misha still needs to improve on her split.

We love you girls =)

Night Make-up @ Mahallah Asiah, IIUM (Friday, 16th May 2008)

My client here was going out for a dinner with her friends at The Curve, Damansara to celebrate her belated birthday. Of course as the birthday girl she wouldn't want to look ordinary so she contacted me to do her make-up for that special occassion :)

Surveying for M&M's birthday party stuffs (Thursday, 15th May 2008)

Salam,
My cousin Kak Nurul planned to throw a surprise birthday party for her girls Misha & Minda. She asked for my sister and I to help her to prepare for the party. I went with her to Balloon Buzz located at Great Eastern Mall to shop for the party goodies as well as for decorations.

Balloon Buzz @ Lower Ground, Great Eastern Mall, Ampang.

Attractive (and pricey for me but of course they are rare) balloons for various occassions.

Birthday candles

Costumes for parties (especially masks and headgears).

Colourful plastic eating utensils to match the theme colour of your party.

Kak Nurul then treated me with coffee from Starbuck's and we met her good friend Angela to talk about the party.

Later we fetched Misha from school not knowing we were busy preparing a party for her.

Misha fooling around with my phone's camera.

Then we went to Bangsar Shopping Centre and Uptown Bangsar to find the coolest cake for the birthday girls however nothing was attractive enough for us. Later on, we went to Ikano Damansara to check out more party flavours.

Another party store.

This is a stall which offers very modern, creative cake creations made from Frosted Icing. It's called Sweet Obsessions. Of course the prices are quite an eye-opener but definitely when it's artistic, and rare to find at other places, you have to pay more than the ordinary ones.

Kids' Birthday Cakes

A crown for a princess.

Adorable carousel.

Out of the vanity box, as a make-up artiste, I like :)

Charm bracelet.

Oh I SOOO LOVE this one!

Combined with matching cupcakes and the most special feature is of course the dolls of the bride and groom.

This one is very artistice too for Carlo Rino.

Very classy crown.

3rd day in Chiang Mai; Visiting Maesa Elephant Camp and Pampering Myself at Rarinjinda Spa (Tuesday, 13th May 2008)

Salam,

Alhamdulillah! Today I was on time to meet Selina at the lobby around before 9 am. We wanted to head for the Elephant Farm at Maesa which is about 45 minutes from our hotel. FYI, Maesa is a location where all the flora and fauna farms (you name it elephant farm, tiger farm, orchid farm, snake farm) are located as well as the area for extreme sports activities such as bungy jumping, go-karting etc.

Maesa Elephant Camp

Souvenirs sold right after the entrance. Please do not bargain too much here since all the profits will be used for the maintenance of the elephants.

Yes it's me of course! :)

The landscape of the elephant came is so breathtaking and peaceful because it is based on a natural village. The workers are the villagers here so you may enjoy the fresh air, and gorgeous landscape of trees and streaming rivers. So do not worry the elephants are enjoying their natural habitat here.

Picturesque view of the Maesa Elephant Camp

With my Thai sister Selina :)

We came just on time to catch the Elephant Show. The elephants came in a queue lead by their Mahuts (A Mahut is an elephant care-taker, guests can sign up for trainig to be a Mahut which is a very unique experience). The elephants entered the ring with a Welcome sign where the audience sat surrounding the ring.

The elephants entered the ring carrying a Welcome sign.

As for the first segment of the show, Selina (who is very used of watching the elephant show so she could not care less watching it she just listened to her I-Pod) said the first segment would be quite boring because the elephants would demonstrate their functions during the days of Ancient Thai such as as a mean of transportation for men, carrying heavy logs to build houses and for protection during war. Hehe of course for her it was boring but certainly not for me. Indeed elephants are more or less like dogs, they are obedient friends to men. It was also quite nerve-wrecking watching the elephants' loyalty while shaking their humongous legs over the stomachs of their Mamuts. If only they had stepped on their stomachs, certainly they would be killed, but of course the elephants won't they were just teasing the audience :p So even animals have their sense of humour :p

As for the second segment, the elephants showed their skills playing soccer (when I went for my second trip to Chiang Mai, that time with Ummi and Nana it was during the World Cup season and that time was cooler, the elephants were painted with participating countries' flags which really excited the tourists from those countries). It was really amusing whenever the elephants would tease the audiene like they were going to kick the ball but just not yet. The coolest part of course was whenever the elephants scored a goal, they would raise their trunk in salutation or just bow down in a circle for the audience. Definitely the audience would cheer for the elephants as if watching a real game of soccer.

Elephants playing soccer.

The elephants cheering to the crowd after the game.

The third segment was the most mesmerizing to me. Thailand is indeed infamous for its work of arts, but to witness ELEPHANTS PAINTING was a totally new experience for me. The elephants were brought with an artiste board with clean, white paper of course. Then the Mamuts would dip the brushes with the required colour and hand the brushes to the elephants' trunks. The Mamuts would then let the elephants paint as they like, but of course with the assistance of the Mamuts :p Still an elephant painting like a human being, like a real artiste is so cool because even I cannot pay as good and effortlessly as these adorable animals. :)

The elephants painting with the assistance of their Mamuts.

An elephant painting a bunch of red flowers.

Naturally the elephants most of them painted images of flora since that is their natural habitat. Still it brought lots of ooohss and aaahhs among the audience :p

Another painting trees at a green forest.

The thing which I like most is that these art pieces were immediately put on sale for the guests to purchase. Of course the prices are quite high like RM 100-300 but hey they were not man-made, they are animal-made. Best of all, the money collected from the sales would be put in the fund of this camp's maintenance. In fact everything sold would be put in the same fund, so these monies are the money earned by the elephants and the Mamuts for their food, camp, salary etc.

Check out their art pieces! I was just so amazed with the way they blended the colours and it shows that these elephants themselves observed the nature well and appreciatte its beauty, so people please love out Mother Earth =)

A reserved piece, a bunch of red flowers.

Oh I love the way the colours were blended in this one.

Orange flowers this time.

Trees.

This is the most jaw-dropping for me because it's an elephant painting of an elephant, haha just like a human doing a portrait of another human. So it is obvious now that elephants regard themselves as cute, adorable creatures =)

The guest Mamut in blue.

Like I have told you earlier guests could sign up for Mamut training for a few days. So the final segment is the time to call up one guest mamut to 'compete' with an elephant on who could burst the most balloons using darts. I think they purposely give thicker balloons to the Mamut or sharper darts to the elephant because es expected the elephant would win :p Of course it is always entertaining to watch.

After the show, when I wanted to leave the ring, I was stunned when an elderly European woman grabbed my hand; just to tell me I am beautiful. Oh thank you Madam, you just saw one Malay girl, if you see more you'll see more beauties ;)

Time to snap some pics with these friendly mammals.

I would love to ride an elephant, exploring the elephant camp through the village, hills and rivers. Alhamdulillah I managed to do that with my sis and mum in June which was very very cool. Selina and I have made up our minds for another important agenda for us ladies so that was why I cannot do the elephant ride just yet.

I love this pic, reminds me of a scene from the animation about elephant royal family, Arthur =)

Tourists buying some fresh snack, coconut juice & corn in the cup.

I took a quite minute to browse around the souvenir shop, which basically selling items related to elephants. I purchased one cute circus elephant brooch and elephant tissue box case for Ummi. I would have love to purchase the paintings, they are the ones painted by the elephants but most of them are modified by the human artistes in the camp. There are also T-Shirts and other stuffs with great, attractive designs but I justhad to watch out my budget. Luckily I had the chance to purchase for more stuff in June. Oh yes as usual, all the monies will go to the fund of the camp's maintenance.

Modified paintings painted by the elephants for sale.

This is a great piece of art, I just love the vibrant colours on it.

Another gift store, Save The Elephants.

Can you believe this ELEPHANT DUNG PAPER PRODUCTS? Hehe I was tempted to buy but the thought of them as dung although recycled, still could not convince me enough. Could be a great gift for your ex-lover maybe, if you had a terrible one :p

Another Muslim restaurant as my lunch destination. This time I was too famished to take the photos of the food. There was one cute Caucasian guy at the opposite table smiled at me when he saw me, but I was too shy to smile back I just looked down focusing on my food. I saw his face changed when I didn't smile back, but actually I like the fact he did the Du'a before enjoying his meal, of course he was a Muslim too =) I felt bad for not smiling to him, but maybe it was just not his rezki :p

Rarinjinda Spa Resort, the most exclusive and chic spa resort in the heart of busy Chiang Mai.

Yay finally the agenda I was looking forward to enjoying! My spa treatment! Ok seriously I have shopped too much for the past few days and my budget did not allow me to go for a spa treatment. I confided into Selina about this and she advised me to buy something nice for Ayah. So I purchased a nice celadon ash tray with an elephant in the middle of it and sticky rice with mango which is Ayah's all time favourite (it's not bribery just I already had the intention to treat Ayah, and ok ok I need more money for the spa too) and I told Ayah I wanted to try out the spa. I don't know why but I always have this guilt since I was a child where I always would not feel right to ask from Ayah for more money for toys, or anything for pleasure, unlike my sister who could easily ask Ayah for anything because he is out father.

Alhamdulillah Ayah granted my wish and he was even eager for me to try the spa treatment. He insisted for me to try the RM 500 spa treatment but that made me gulp my own saliva, I did not want to waste half a thousand ringgit of my father's money just for that, so I downsize the offer by going for the RM 300 plus treatment, which was blissful enough for me =)

2nd Day in Chiang Mai; visiting the morning market and catching the BEST HORROR FILM, SEE PRAENG @ 4BIA at Airport Plaza (Monday, 12th May 2008)

Salam,

Alhamdulillah I am lucky because I actually have saved the photos of my trip to Chiang Mai in the drafts of this blog. So yup, I can still cover the second day and third day there though I did not manage to continue the rest of my first day :p Anyway I did check out the Thai Silk factory and bought some souvenirs for my family.

Moving on, early next morning (actually I was late, Selina planned to bring me to check out the Elephant farm but I was too late for the morning show) she decided to bring me to other places. Firstly, she brought me to visit the local market which is nearby to my hotel. It's more or less similar with the typical market in Malaysia, but of course it offers products which are very much Chiang Mai and might be new to me :)

In front of the Tuk-Tuks.

Jasmine, waterlily and several other kinds of flowers especially for worshipping.

It was the Lychee season. I love lychees :)

Selina bought the black mushrooms which you can see in this picture. She said the mushrooms are very delicious and must be cooked on the same day you purchase it because if you don't eat them fresh they won't taste as good, so she planned to cook those with her mum for dinner. I went to Selina's house yesterday, met her sweet, friendly mum. I was really happy Selina also loves reading like crazy, and she showed me her collection of accessories which she handmade them.

I did not enter the wet market because I was not planning to cook definitely :p The dry market offers really great stuff especially the local sweets and dessert which are just amazing. They even sell the strange stuffs for you to eat such as snakes and insects here.

A kind of local dessert. I can't recall its name.

Colourful Dodol!

We have dodol in Malaysia too, but usually it's just in the original dark brown and green colour. Dodol is sweet, sticky nougat made from coconut and I like the ones with Durian flavour.

This lady here is friendly and most of the time she just smiled at me because I cannot speak Thai except for the very basic ones. She sells lots and lots of handmade dessert, which are delicate and attractive looking reminding me of the Baba Nyonya dessert of Melaka. Best of all she sells the BEST Jala Emas (Gold Net) which is famous as Kelantanese dessert in Malaysia. I usually buy them from a Kelantanese dessert stall in Ramadhan because I love them so much I just shut my eyes paying RM 2 per piece, but her I just have to pay RM 5 for a pack of 10 pieces. Huh! :p

Too many choices you just don't know which ones to choose :p

Ha these ones really remind me of the Malaccan Baba Nyonya dessert. Even when I went to Japan they have this kind of dessert as well but formed in their local flowers such as lotus and sakura.

After purchasing some local dessert, Selina decided to bring me to Airport Plaza, a very large shopping mall which is obviously located very nearby to the Chiang Mai airport. Here it is just like any shopping mall where it offers branded names from overseas as well as cool stores offering local traditional and modern products from the medium to the extravagant prices.

Airport Plaza.

I was ecstatic when Selina suggested us to watch a movie. I felt excited because although I have been to many countries before but I never catch a movie there. So this would be my first time I insisted to watch a Thai movie instead of a Hollywood movie. Thailand is infamous for their creations of films especially their comedy and definitely horror films. I am a fan of horror films especially Asian ones (because you feel that they're closer to you so they scare you more) and I was lucky that one movie was showing called See Praeng or 4Bia (Phobia)

See Praeng or known in english as 4Bia

In Buddhism of course the number 4 similarizes death so they believe that it's an unlucky number. Selina watched the movie previously and she said that it's from the makers of Shutter, Double or Twins can't recall what it is called. I have watched Shutters and it scared the hell out of me so I can't wait to watch this one. Selina said it's a combination of 4 short films which are in some small ways connected to each other.

I laughed when I saw a row of Selina's discount cards when she purchased the movie tickets. Obviously she loves to shop because as a tourist guide she always must follow her tourists so at the same time she shops for herself because she rarely travel elsewhere than Chiang Mai. It was really interesting when later the movie was about to start Selina purchased Popcorn sprinkled with Cheese powder which is not available in Malaysia.

One thing that really touched me and made me green with envy was before the film start, the screen played Thailand's national anthem with a video of Thai people with their King's beautiful photographs somehow became a part of their lives. Everybody in the audience abruptly stood up when the first note was heard although the cinema was pitch-dark. In Malaysia, if the national anthem is played it is either people would lazily stand up when a quarter of the song is played or donot stand at all. This scenario reminded me of the time I watched Black Eyed Peas concert in Bangkok I had goosebumps when the chatting youngsters at the concert IMMEDIATELY stood up when they heard the national anthem being played right before the concert started. That was a sobering experience for me and how I wish our Negaraku song will be played before concerts or a movie as well.

Anyway regarding on the movie, it was THE BEST HORROR FILM I have ever watched. Of course Thai movies, like Indonesian movies always have beautiful cinematography. All the short films are from different themes but indeed connected and scary as hell especially the final short film about a stewardess trapped with the ghost of her lover's wife in a flight. I mean when you are thousands of metres above ground where can you actually run right? I remember hugging Selina and screamed the loudest in the cinema, and when the movie was over people with scared-like adrenalin sensation rushed out of the cinema. I thought the Thais must be very used of watching horror films that they still could cope up with this movie, because when I watched this movie again with my sister Deena and my good buddy Hafiz in Malaysia in August, I remember even Hafiz a guy was scared as hell and several people left the cinema without waiting for its end. Such an impact! I am now very excited that 4Bia 2 is releasing on 5th November 2009. Really really not going to miss that insha Allah.

Oh yes actually while waiting for the movie to start, Selina and I decided to have lunch at the mall's food court. Selina informed me that there is a Muslim food stall and the food is delicious. It's really nice of Selina that she keeps treating me with food and the movie as well. She told me she doesn't see me as her tourist but as her own sister I was very touched :)

The Muslim food stall. One lady working there was not friendly though :/

Spices and condiments for the menu.

Fried Glass Noodles

Seee I told you she was not friendly? I asked her not to put bean sprouts on my Fried Glass Noodles (Soo Hoon) coz I hate to eat them but she ignored my request huh! Anyway after removing the tauge I ate some tasty fried soo hoon. Hot, just the way I like it.

Aroyy! (Delicious)

We also ordered some very crunchy Roti Canai but it was poured with some sweet condensed milk making the taste even tastier! Although it is sweet it was combined with what I consider one of the best Chicken Curry I have ever tasted. Some sort of curry which reminded me that I have tasted the same kind somewhen during my childhood.

Sweet Roti Canai + Chicken Curry

After the movie, I just shopped for attractive note books (cannot shop much because I shopped too much at the weekend market) I was amazed with this great portrait made from knit-work.

Later on I just accompanied Selina shopping. Interestingly at this mall, there are a few small boutiques selling really cool and fun clothes for plus size people. Usually these are the shops which Selina like to shop for herself because she is young so of course she likes youthful and trendy clothes as well.

Small boutiques selling trendy, cool clothes for plus size women.

Not to forget she also bought some Jeruk for herself :)

We later on met my father and his friends for dinner at this one Muslim restauran. I think it was the same as yesterday. Of course the food was heavenly because all of them were served hot.

Mixed Tom Yam

Chicken with Cashew Nuts

Mixed Vege

Satisfied golfers enjoying dessert :)

After our stomachs were filled with sumptuous good food, Ayah still not exhausted enough decided to have a Karaoke session at the hotel's karaoke club. My father's friends were quite nervous actually assuming that I am not open-minded and might be thinking that they are 'naughty' men, I mean oh come on I am fine with some harmless entertainment :p

It was hillarious really for two reasons. Firstly when my father wanted to other drinks and snacks, the GROs entered the room in a row facing us so that my father and his friends could choose which ones they like. I held myself from laughing because Ayah and his friends really looked nervous and even said 'We want to order drinks not these.' They looked at me wanting to explain THIS is not them but I just smiled :p

After that before we started to sing, the remote was stuck and the TV was stuck showing us Pussycat Dolls' Don't Cha. You know how PCD's videos are? My father's friends of course were stunned because those women are hot, and Ayah and their friends are obviously normal men so they oohheed and aaahhhedd a little. It was really hillarious looking at my father's nervous look because he was caught between his friends and his daughter here :p When I told about this to my sister and mum back in KL we really had a great laugh.

Selina during dinner.

Selina and her adorable staff which she treats like her own sister, Jinny.

1st Day in Chiang Mai, Thailand; visiting home industry factories, Selina's home & Sunday Night Market (Sunday, 11th May 2008)

Salam,

As I have mentioned in my previous post, Ayah has invited me to join him for his golf trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand. For your information, I know nothing about golf so my presence there would only be for sightseeing and shopping.

5 year old Hisham enjoying his biscuits during break

Ayah informed me about this on a very short notice that he was going on Sunday, 11th May. Supposedly on that Sunday I had to teach my students at KL Pac. So I had to think of a solution quick so I would not burden KL Pac but still manage to go to Chiang Mai for the first time. Fortunately one of my best friends, Nazlin was able and willing to replace me. Nazlin, who's the best in performing arts among all my friends in my opinion, is my friend since we were 14. We first met each other at a karaoke competition at Kelab Darul Ehsan where Nazlin was announced as Champion. Hehe yes I used to enter singing competitions when I was younger, I even made it for the quarter-finals of RTM2's Golden Teen Search in the year 2000 but I am way behind Nazlin when it comes to comparison of who's the better singer. Nazlin and I went to different schools, we only met that once. Just to recall, I was wearing my knee-length red dress while Nazlin was wearing body-fit long black dress with holes up to her thighs, haha those days. :p

More biscuits to go!!

On one fine day, during our Ta'aruf or Orientation Week at the International Islamic University Matriculation Centre where I went after high school, I went to the bathroom when she screamed "Suraya!!!!" and hugged me. I screamed too but on the other hand I could not recall who this fella was at all. She told me who she was, where we met and then only I screamed in joy "Nazlin!!!" Allah's ways are always unpredictable, we never knew we both decided to wear the hijab without any coercion from anyone else but ourselves when we were both 16.

We chatted like old friends, talking about how wonderful Allah has decided our lives, that we were destined to find each other again as students of this Islamic university, as our first choice for further studies, thinking of how when we were younger we had thought that this university would be the final choice for us to choose. UIA? Sorry la, kena pakai tudung (have to wear hijabs), but now we both embrace the things that we never thought we would love now. Other cool things were when we discovered that we have common interest in mostly everything. Oh yes the only difference between us that puts us apart is that Nazlin is super kepoh (such a havoc and very friendly) while I am the quieter one. By the way, Nazlin who is very much involved in theatres and has an amazing singing voice, fyi she was one of the finalists for Bintang RTM competing with Misha Omar and Siti Sarah Raisuddin, so I was really happy that she could help me this time because just like me, she loves to play with kids as well. :)

From back; Gaston and his sister, couldn't recall her name and the very hyper but super cute 3 year old Anish.

The below group photos were taken on Saturday when I trained Nazlin of how to teach the kids. Further more I had thought of having group photos with my students on my final day. The other 3 photos were taken from previous classes.

Happy faces!

Angry faces! Er..some are just not so angry it seems :p Owh..Teacher Sue is going to miss all of you so much kids, muah muah muah muah!! Love all of you!

So on Sunday, 11th May I departed to Chiang Mai, Thailand with ayah and his office colleagues cum his golfing friends. My uncle Uncle Zahar or I call him Che' Aa also followed us. We departed by Air Asia (if you can save more money for shopping why not hehe? :p) and the journey took us about 3 hours supposedly, but Air Asia is always proud to arrive early by half an hour to its destinations (not excluding delaying its flights as well but not this time).

Chiang Mai is located in Northern Thailand so the weather in November-February is usually very cool while the hottest season would be in April. In May it was still hot but I did not go there to play golf so I did not mind :p

Sue & Ayah

As soon as we arrived at Chiang Mai's airport we were welcomed by a pretty Thai woman clad in traditional Thai costume. She puts on each of us a necklace made from jasmine, a religious symbol of Buddhism in Thailand. Also a photographer snapped a photo of each of us with her. Apparently they were from the travel agency that Ayah has hired. I joked to my dad's friends that they were going to be in trouble since their wives in KL would found out that they already created some fling with a pretty Thai lady :p

I was told by Ayah that he has always hired CUE Travel Agency for his trips in Chiang Mai. The owner, Mr. Allan Chen is from Malaysia but he migrated to Thailand to start a business when he was 20 years old. Now he has been living in Thailand for more than 40 years. His daughter Celina, who's 24 years old works with his father and was introduced to me as my tourist guide in Chiang Mai. Yay I was excited to have a new friend in Chiang Mai (seriously she became my new best friend because we have so much in common!) :) As for ayah and his friends, other tourist guides would guide them to various golf clubs everyday.

Celina's father, of course is a Malaysian while her mum is a Thai, but you know what, she speaks excellent Malay with me. She went to Sekolah Kebangsaan (as she said) in Malaysia and when she was 18 she moved to Bangkok then Chiang Mai to work with her father. It's just amazing to see her a Chinese+Thai living in Thailand is still able to speak and write in excellent Bahasa Melayu instead of speaking in English with me. His father too, since he left Malaysia in the 1960s, so he's still a Malaysian that's very proud of using Bahasa Melayu. I even blushed when once I greeted him with "Good morning Mr. Chen!" but instead he smiled and greeted me with "Selamat pagi." By the way Celina, she's just amazing, she's able to converse and write in Bahasa Melayu, English, Thai, Mandarin, Hokkien & Cantonese.

Seriously after joining this trip with CUE Travel, I must compliment their service and would recommend to everyone wanting to visit Chiang Mai. Please feel free to contact me if you want to get CUE Travel's contact details ok :)

A part of the old fortress which defended Thailand from Burmese

Well, some briefing of Chiang Mai apart from it's location in the northern part of Thailand, it is also a place where Buddhism is strongly reflected by the hundreds of temples located here. There is also some remains of a fortress built during the age of Ancient Thailand, where the fortress was meant to defend Chiang Mai from the attacks of Burma (now known as Myanmar).

Chiang Mai is also very popular with tourists as well as locals to be the centre of arts & crafts in Thailand. Due to my observation, I dare say that the natives of Chiang Mai survives on their creativity in arts. They make using their hands of whatever they sell to buyers. You will understand as you read further of my posts in Chiang Mai. Celina told me that all the cheap & attractive things which you can purchase at the infamous Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok are all came from the artistes in Chiang Mai. I went to Bangkok last December for the Black Eyed Peas concert and was fortunate enough to drop by at the Chatuchak market on Friday morning (it's usually livelier on the weekends itself) and discovered the interesting arts and crafts materials which are sold in shopping malls in KL are purchased there with very cheap prices. In Chiang Mai, since you may purchase them from the artistes themselves, so you are able to get wayyyy cheaper prices. Oh golly I SERIOUSLY can't wait to shop, shop, shop till I drop :p

I was curious why in this photo the Buddhist monk is wearing sunglasses

Yes, before I started my mission as a shopaholic (I am if I am on vacations), we checked in into our hotel, Rattanakosin Hotel which is very near to the airport. The hotel is not bad to me, not extremely posh like The Mandarin Oriental Hotel (which later Celina informed us that her company was the travelling agent for Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina & Datuk Sri Effendy and their family members when they were in Chiang Mai. They lodged in that hotel which its normal room rate starts from USD 300.) Ayah told me he has been to the hotel before when we passed in front of it. Ayah told from the outside the exterior looks like a magnificent ancient Thai palace while the interior is extremely posh and modern. As for me, when I am on vacation, I don't mind whether my hotel is posh or not just as long as it is comfortable and clean because I will come back to the hotel to hit the bed. However yes, if one day Allah reward me with better fortune I will certainly bring my family to these very posh hotels for the luxurious experience :)

Enjoying the Welcome Drink, refreshing Pineapple Juice. Yum yum I love pineapple juice, I can’t understand of why most people don’t like it.

Posing with a stone-made elephant, the Holy Animal of Thailand.

Don’t you think that he is just cute?

The humble but nice landscape of the hotel

Our bedroom. One bed for me one bed for Ayah :p The room is fine to me, but I really complain about the very dim-litted lights of the room! It was difficult for me to pack the things I have shopped at night.

After we have checked it, we did not even rest, well why should waste any time right? Before Ayah left for his first golf game and left me in Selina’s good hands, DEFINITELY he would give me my shopping fund hehe. He reminded me to buy things for my sister Deena especially because she’s not with us for the trip because she’s working hard for her exam and not to forget to buy some nice things for my mother Ummi as well. It’s nice to know that Ayah still remembers to remind me to buy things for Ummi though they are divorced. By doing that, it just makes the children happy though that they are no longer together.

Ayah, his friends and I left the hotel in separate vans. They headed to a golf course while Selina, the driver (can’t remember his Thai nickname but it means Small or Kecik in Malay because of his small built :p) and I left the hotel and headed to San Kamphaeng District where it is specialized for Home Industries manufacturers to set up their businesses there. This area is famous for tourists to learn about the manufacturing process of each Thai craft business and also to purchase them at good prices. Most of the businesses have nice cosy bungalows as their business premise where the tourists will first be brought by their guides to the factory to know the step-by-step process and later go to the showroom to view the end result products and purchase them if you are interested. Good thing about the businesses premises here, even if it’s in the category of posh and exclusive you can always bargain, but of course do it with a smile always :) Hehe, do not forget that Thailand is known as The Land of Smiles, I think that is really nice, a smile would always light up anyone’s day and it doesn’t cost you a cent.

In front of Huanfai Daingam, the cotton store

My first stop was at a Cotton factory named Huanfai Daingam. Gee I just think that the name sounds more Vietnamese than Thai. The shop has the exclusive feel, so I made a mental note not to really shop too much at these exclusive stores because I bet that almost similar things if not the same might be available at night bazaars where I can get them at much cheaper prices and bargain even lower. However Ummi always reminds me, if I can purchase anything from the bazaars or villages where I can get the things directly from the persons that make the things for a living and I could see they’re not that well-off, and the prices are already cheap, don’t bargain but instead if I should just pay more to them to appreciate their work and regard the extra payment as Sadaqah or alms/charity.

Its factory

I noticed that Selina would always phone the next place that we were going to head, so the GRO at the stores would be ready to welcome me and serve me. As for here, the GRO has already waited for me and straightly brought Selina and I to the back of the store where the factory is located. However since I came on a Sunday most of the factories are not operating but Selina and the GRO would give me some good and detailed explanations anyway.

I bought about 10 of these keychains as souvenirs because I found that they are really preppy looking and adorable. Each cost me at about 89 baht each (approximately RM 9 plus, Thai’s currency is slightly stronger than the Malaysian Ringgit) but later I quite regret it because I could have bought cheaper but still nice souvenirs at Night bazaars. Anyways I was glad the people I gave these loved them especially my nieces Misha & Minda. I even bought them a little too many till I didn’t know to whom should I give them I gave them to Ong, our family’s repairman for him to give them to his children and he really liked them. Usually I like to buy souvenirs to my family and friends with a personal remembrance, for example buying the things that I know they would like so these keychains are the souvenirs without any personal note.

After spending enough time at the cotton store, we made our next move to a Celadon store. Celadon or better know as Thailand’s Jade because it’s green in colour is my mother’s most favourite type for dining ware besides the Blue China ware.

The store’s name is Baan Celadon which means Celadon House. You can see from the photo above that it offers exclusive Celadon and Selina told that it caters Celadon & Benjarong (another type for dining and home dĂ©cor ware which has designs like Batik)ware for the Thai Royal Family as well.

Baan Celadon, the architecture of the building looks modern but has Thai traditional elements as well. I wish I can own a house this beautiful, not so big in size, but cosy and nice, and I wish to have Celadon as a part of my furniture because it’s just so calming and soothing to look at.

The landscape area of Baan Celadon

Hehe I wanted to snap some photos with Selina, but since she was still clad in her company’s uniform she didn’t want to, she asked me to wait until she changes into her cooler clothes :p As for preview, she showed me her gorgeously painted nails. My sis Nana would love to have this, Selina told me she did it with a very cheap price at the Night Bazaar.

The factory of Baan Celadon

As usual I would be brought to the factory first. Since it’s unoperating, at all factories they have huge boards displaying the step by step process of each product where tourists can read on their own.

A vase in the making. Usually the colourful hand-painted designs here are meant for Benjarong instead of Celadon. But only here I discovered that there actually exists Blue Celadon besides the original green ones.

Another vase. Selina told me that usually all designs are painted based on the story which the artiste wants to convey, usually regarding on Thailand’s history and tradition. That is why it is regarded as a piece of art, where it means the price could be pricey.

A decorative elephant

The showroom cum store

When I entered the showroom, I was stunned by the beauty of the Celadon and Benjarong displayed. Some of the vases and lamps were so huge I got very cautious not to topple anything. The Benjarong collection for the Thai Royal Family is so exclusive, although it is sold, a cup could cost up to RM 200. I was told not to snap any photo, but I just can’t help but to do it silently for me to put them up in my blog. However I managed to get more photos during my second trip to Chiang Mai in June with Ummi and Nana after Nana finished her exams. By the way, when I entered the showroom I was served with Iced Lemongrass Juice which was really tasty.

I did not buy anything for myself here but instead I bought 2 Celadon bangles each for Ummi and Nana that costs 500 Baht each (Slightly more than RM 50, remember to deduct a Zero when you use Thai currency to convert into RM) and an adorable dainty celadon elephant teapot which costs 500 Baht as well. I also bought Ummi a celadon mug which costs at about 350 Baht. Still remember, you can bargain here and I got some discount here as well. I think the prices at Baan Celadon are still reasonable and affordable because it is an exclusive store, I bet the prices if these products are sold in Kuala Lumpur would be much more expensive.

Our next stop was to a Silver Factory which I could not recall its name, but do not fret because all these factories are located nearby in the same district. I didn’t go to the factory because it was closed but the GRO, this time a man, explained to us the step by step process of producing silver. He informed us that silver must always be 92.5% with the remaining percentage is copper to make the silver hard or else it could not be formed into anything. He showed to us the samples of how many silver rings in different designs are made at the same time. The green plastic things in the picture above are used again and again to produce more rings.

The walkway to the showroom

The showroom

I think the showroom is quite spacious till the very back. The front part of the showroom offers the more modern designs while the choices at the back offers a range of traditional design silver accessories and silver ware.

Selina told me that some Italian tourists that she has brought previously told her that all the modern designs here are also the same new designs in Italy, so they think it might be that the vendors in Italy import the accessories from here. Only of course the prices there are sold with prices 4 times higher than in Chiang Mai. So one of them took the opportunity to buy all the birthday and Christmas gifts for his female family members and friends for this year and next year as well! :

Of course all the accessories here are beautiful, the silver are encrusted with emerald, diamond, ruby, pearls and also semi-precious stones. The prices are also reasonable and you can bargain. However I didn't buy anything for myself because I thought that I didn't need anything, further more I am not that crazy for accessories, only once in a while. However I did bought a pair of lovely drop earrings and a silver ring for my sister. Out of all types of accessories, I am more attracted on bracelets, bangles and rings because I wear hijab, and there I was seriously attracted on a bracelet which is encrusted with tiny pink diamonds, and Selina loved it too! Unfortunately it was priced at RM 1600, and of course I had to refuse, I didn't want to dump a huge portion of my shopping allowance on a bracelet and it would be too much to ask from Ayah for more money definitely so I had to leave the idea :p

The stylish modern designs of ladies' silver accessories

The more traditional designs displayed at the back of the showroom

Traditional Thai design necklaces, bangles & belts. Not excluding silver evening purses & dining ware. I felt like buying but since I won't have any purpose of wearing or using them so better not to waste any money. But yes bridal boutique owners and fashion designers are recommended to come here to purchase these accessories since the prices here are very reasonable.

Black Onyx. The designs here are funky such as teardrops, stars, butterflies, hearts and even skulls. I was quite attracted to buy one or two but I think the prices are quite expensive for my budget.

I am not sure about this type of stone, but I always find it in more native designs, you know like the Red Indian designs.

Our next stop was a traditional Thai umbrella & handicraft centre. All the products here are made from Sa paper. All the stores here regardless of the types of products they manufacture are located nearby so you would not waste any time stopping at one store and then another.

Of course must snap a photo here :)

The area of the handicraft centre which is full of greens

Check out the colourful umbrellas! Pretty pretty! :p

This is the Sa tree. The Sa paper is produced by flattening the wood and soaking them into hot water. Of coure there are other futher steps but I don't really remember :p

A worker in the midst of processing the paper

Working on the frames of the umbrellas

Umbrellas ready to be painted

Handicrafts suitable to place stationeries or made as cups for you to drink made from bamboo, sold at around RM 2

Colourful umbrellas ready to be sold

At this section, the artistes also would accept requests to do paintings on your clothes such as t-shirts, jeans, bags or anything you can think of for very cheap prices! A design starts from 50B (RM5++) and it will usually take at about 15 minutes or lesser for them to complete the job. I didn't do any though the designs were very tempting but I will suggest my sister to do it when she comes here.

An artiste painting floral designs on an umbrella.

Various of Thai traditional motives such as orchids, Buddha, elephants and others to be chosen by you as painted designs on your jeans, t-shirts etc.

This is not entirely traditional but I find it very funny, but this is not applicable for Muslims ok! :p

An artiste working on a huge umbrella

I like these umbrellas, the design and colours used made them look very exclusive.

Now let me bring you for a tour at the store. Most of the handicrafts sold here are made from Sa paper and wood. You may also purchase plain T-shirts here just in case if you want the artistes to paint the designs for you. However the prices are quite ridiculous I guess for a plain T-shirt from thin, cheap material but it's better than nothing. Only remember to bring your plain clothes if you want to have the designs painted on them so you won't have to buy any.

Dolls and pencilcases in the form of the hill tribes of Thailand.

Painted decorative fans. I bought some small ones which I can use in funkier colours and in the designs of cute elephants.

Hanging ornaments such as adorable windchimes are also sold in very cheap prices such as from RM 5.

Colourful paintings of the Buddha as a religious symbol.

Colourful lights made from Sa paper. However to be noted, you may get similar products with greater bargains at the Sunday Night Market or the Night Bazaar.

Ok people, after busy touring for half of the day, Selina brought me to a Chinese Muslim restaurant. The restaurant is like the typical Chinese seafood restaurants in Malaysia, quite big and comfortable, however the prices of the food are really cheap more or less the prices of food in food stalls in Malaysia. I am impressed with the businessmen in Thailand, I mean the rates for petrol and gas in Thailand is much more expensive there, if I'm not mistaken around RM 3.50 - RM 4 per litre for petrol (can't recall the exact price) but still business people sells their products in cheap prices. Even my Singaporean friends told me the prices of food at their food courts are considered cheaper compared to the prices in KL although their currency is stronger ( I agree with this fact after watching many episodes on food stalls in Singapore on Asian Food Channel) so we can drive to one conclusion: Malaysian business people always take advantage when the global petrol rate is increased! Huh!

Check out my first meal in Chiang Mai, from now onwards I am going to start my first ..

Jom Makan Halal! @ Chiang Mai, Thailand! :p

Fried Rice with Crab Meat and Bull's Eye Fried Egg (senang cakap Nasi Goreng Ketam dengan Telur Mata Kerbau)

350 Baht (approximately RM 3.50++)

Not too hot and spicy like the common Thai food that we know, the taste is a bit milder but still yummy!

Haa I bet even at Tom Yam stalls the standard price for a plate of fried rice in KL is RM 4.. see the difference.. this one I bought in a restaurant. However hehe, the next time I went to Chiang Mai in June this restaurant increased it's price since it is gaining more and more Malaysian tourists. The new price is 500B but hey, at least it's a restaurant you see..

Anyway regarding on the food in Chiang Mai, although it's spicy, but it's not as hot and spicy as the Thai food in southern Thailand such as Haad Yai. So for those who has a milder tastebuds and don't really dare to try Thailand's spicy food, I think Chiang Mai's cuisine would suit you. Still whether it is Northern of Southern Thai cuisine, Thai cuisine is always awesome! Aroyyy!! (Urm that means Delicious in Thai).

Snapping a photo with suwai (beautiful)Thai young ladies, beautifully clad in Thai silk attire

Alhamdulillah after feeding my face, I continued my tour in Chiang Mai by visiting the Gems Gallery. When I visited Bangkok when I was 12, ayah brought our family to its branch there but Selina told me the largest branch is the one in Chiang Mai. Perhaps as you have known, Thailand is famous for gems or precious stones as one of its natural resources. So here you may get jewellery encrusted with high quality diamonds, rubies, emeralds & sapphires just to name a few. The designs also are very exclusive and made very fine.

Hehe of course if you like to shop here you need some serious stack of cash (of course credit cards are very preferable too :p) but as a student here, I just come here to check out the jewellery. I was greeted by a GRO who was really friendly and nice, and she's excited that my name is almost similar to hers but unfortunately I can't recall her name but it was Su something as well. I told her with a laugh that since I am a student please don't expect me to buy anything extravagant because I won't have the right money..she laughed too but said it's ok she said she loved to even just introduce me to the different types of gems and educate me with the process of creating them.

She brought me to an area where some workers there displayed the step-by-step process of the making of these stunning jewelleries. It started from the extracting of the gems from the rocks, sculpting, washing, polishing etc. Firstly let me show you the photos of some exquisite creations displayed near the entrance before I entered the partial factory area.

A Jade clock.

117, 000 Baht

This is unique, a ship made from Fishbone. Don't ask me how they made it into a ship.

This carving is made from a certain type of wood.

The altar which has the statue of King Rama 5.

The current King is #9. I asked Selina why is that King Rama 5 is being so highly respected till now, because I noticed many lockets portrayed his photo and even some restaurants are named after him. Selina who's a hitory buff, see how good a tourist guide she is, informed me that King Rama 5 is regarded by the Thais next to God. He is known as a very noble character man, he freed the slaves in the olden days and due to his intelligence and courage, Thailand won the war against Burma (Myanmar) in the past. So Thais would pay some respect and made offerings whenever they encounter his statue. Indeed I saw Seline stopped for a quick minute in front of the statue and solemnly prayed, so yes the shrines of King Rama 5 is a common scene in Thailand.

After I went to the processing room, I was brought to the gallery where all the jewelleries are displayed under bright lights making the bling-bling looked more tempting. I was not allowed to snap photos, but stubborn Suraya did using her hp's camera silently so sorry for the poor quality. I heard French tourists ooohh-ed and aaahh-ed when they looked at the collection, and yes kept muttering 'Jolie!!' ie beautiful.

Selina told me that two of her clients, the Yang Amat Mulia Sultanah Kedah and Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina did some serious shopping there. Haha I have no argument on that statement, it is believable.

The collection shown in the middle area are sold around hundred of thousands ringgit. The most expensive necklace which has gigantic emeralds, diamonds, rubies and sapphires encrusted in it is sold at RM 600, 000 or 6 million Baht. It was really cool and nice of the GRO because although she knew I would not afford to buy the jewelleries which cost tens of thousands of ringgit but she still offered me to try on the jewelleries just for fun, you know she did not show any annoyance or reluctance so that was very nice of her. :)

By the way, if you are like me, who just don't have the budget to buy gold or platinum gold, do not be disappointed because they also offer semi-precious stones which look so so so similar to the expensive precious stones on gold and silver that looks like white gold. Of course you could see more tourists flock at this area and really purchasing including me! :p Of course I did buy something for myself, a silver bracelet encrusted with Cubic Zirconia and a matching ring which looks EXACTLY like the one which was given from my loved one, and yes I have lost it away..or thrown it away to be exact. See how cruel I could be? But yes the purchase of it shows non other than my love for him which is still intact for him, and when he knew I bought it made him really happy because he got the sign.. hmm let just leave everything to Allah's wise decision.. Ok I am going astray from the original topic, by the way the 'bling bling' pieces that I've bought cost about RM 500 only but it made me feels like wearing diamonds baby! Hehe Ayah was really glad that I bought something quite pricey for myself and he said those are really nice and said he bet that I wouldn't get that kind of a bracelet with price that good in KL when I showed to him the things I shopped that night, so Ayah's compliments made me happier, thanks Ayah for the shopping spree :)

*to be continued

Mother's Day Gift (Sunday, 11th May 2008)

Salam,

Since I am on my holidays Ayah invited me to tag along with him during his golf trip in Chiang Mai, Thailand! He only invited me since my best buddy, my sis Deena was really in full-throttle preparing for her exams. I would miss her company there seriously. Well, I know it's only Thailand but I've never been to Chiang Mai before so I know it would be fun and having fun without her is not much fun I swear. However, I really need to be out of Malaysia for a vacation. And another good thing is that, vacation equals to shopping spree! Yay!

However before that, a couple of days before I left KL I dropped by at a florist in Taman Melawati (the shop was unattractive, more like a jungle but the only one that I could find at that time which provides a delivery). I chose the type of bouquet that I hope Ummi would like as her Mother's Day Gift. Some lilies (lilies are my faves especially White Lilies, same like the late Princess Diana), some roses and of course tuber roses for the heavenly fragrant.

When I have arrived in Chiang Mai, Ummi gave me a call and she squealed in delight like a little girl, she loved it! Boy I was glad! It was a surprise for her and I love to give surprises to the people I love, by the way who doesn't love a pleasant surprise right? :)

* Thanks to my sis Nana for snapping this photo. SLIMY KISSES to u deenot, MUAH MUAH SLURRRP! :p

Meeting with Brand's & TV3 representatives also with Nurul Syuhada from Majalah 3! @ Sri Pentas, Bandar Utama

Pagi yang Menakjubkan di Sri Pentas =)

Salam,

Ha...what was I doing at Sri Pentas today? Hehe must be something that I would really like right? ;) Believe it or not, I was attending a meeting at TV3, Sri Pentas. Me, attending a MEETING at TV3.. yes chasing my dreams baby..almost there haha :p

My Visitor's pass. Always like the guards at the Sri Pentas Guard House, very warm and friendly.

By the way, before I went to the office I was heading, definitely I had to walk pass of Hot FM's office. Since it was still before 10 am the Hot FM AM Krew was still on air. Yes I saw my favourite Fara Fauzana working but I was too timid to even wave haha! I only know her sister Nadeen from the 3R Intern Search programme but that doesn't mean I know Fara personally then right. I was star-struck when I saw Fara Fauzana :p

From left : from Brand's and Ms. Halida from Wanita Hari Ini

Ok actually regarding on my presence at Sri Pentas was because on one fine day (cheah!) someone stumbled upon the make-up tips section on my website. In one of the posts, I have had recommended my viewers to consume the Brand's InnerShine Berry Essence as a supplement for gorgeous eyes. Apparently this someone was the Marketing Executive of Brand's and she contacted me after she viewed my website. She asked me whether I am a consumer of Brand's InnerShine Prune Essence as well, coincidentally the answer is yes! In fact, I consume Brand's InnerShine Prune Essence everynight before I am off to bed, it's just that I promoted the Berry Essence in the post because the viewer was enquiring about eye beauty so the Berry Essence was relevant. However really, I swear the goodness of Brand's Prune Essence since I am busy with my studies and make-up business, so that means I always sleep late at night, thus consuming the Prune Essence allows my body to feel very fresh waking up early in the morning, as though you have had a long good rest. Further more, it's good for the complexion making mine more radiant and I don't have to really religiously go for facials monthly.

From left: The lady on the left I can't recall whether she's from Brand's or TV3 but on the right is Ms. Noraini from Brand's. I owe you one madam!

So ladyluck was being kind to me, and I was offered to testify about the benefits of the product on TV3's Wanita Hari Ini! The Brand's representatives considered that I would be the right candidate to do so because of my hectic daily life as a law undergraduate and a freelance make-up artiste at the same time. Also for my considerably good looks as well eheh perasannya! :p

Hey who's this laughing chick?

Then walked in a familiar face from TV, she was no other than Nurul Syuhada, the champion of Malaysia's Top Host and currently the host of Majalah 3 on TV3. She had a friendly smile and everybody seemed happy to greet her when she sat next to me. I was so speechless since I am a fan of hers just blurted out 'I'm your fan' when I shook hands with her. She smiled, said thanks and said I look familiar. Haha I felt strange but good at the same time when she said that because I am not the celebrity here, but she is. Then Ms. Halida said that perhaps she saw me when I was on 3R for the 3R Intern Search to Vietnam competition earlier this year. Yes by the way, I like Nurul Syuhada because she has a wholesome personality and she always smile whenever she hosts. She is considerably tall, very fair and not too skinny like most TV celebrities. I also admire the fact that she is educated, soft-spoken and it's good news to me knowing that she's in a relationship with the Angkasawan candidate, Dr. Faiz. I am a fan of Dr. Faiz more than I like Dr. Sheikh Muzaffar honestly. I think both of them compliment each other really well. I pray that they'll get hitched to each other insya Allah :)

Now we are seriously discussing

Ok coming back to our discussion, I was informed that my episode was gonna be aired on Friday, 25th May 2008 on 12 noon. The slot would be aired for 6 minutes, hmm I wonder how much Brand's pays TV3 for that 6 minutes slot. I was briefed about the benefits of Brand's InnerShine Prunce Essence and how it is relevant with my busy schedule as a law student and freelance make-up artiste. I discovered that prunes, compared to other fruits contain the highest amount of anti-oxidant. For your information, as I've been told by my mother, Ummi, anti-oxidant is very good to delay the process of ageing. It prevents the obvious presence of pigmentation spots on your skin, pigmentation is the dark spots on your face which tends to show themselves as we grow older. I was also informed about my payment, and heck it's s pleasant surprise knowing about the 4 figure payment I was going to receive for the 6 minutes work, alhamdulillah :p

With the nice and friendly Nurul Syuhada

When our meeting ended, I followed Ms. Halida to get some gifts from Brand's from her, of course the Prune Essence. I noticed that as I was walking with Nurul Syuhada, the staffs of TV3 were all excited meeting Nurul and they greeted her warmly. I opine that Nurul is truly nice and not a fake so that's why people care to greet her when they bumped into her. Yes I also requested from Nurul whether I can snap a photo with her or not. She warmly said with a smile saying 'Boleehh' which means I can :) Indeed I was really glad meeting her and to know I was in the same meeting room with her seemed a bit surreal :p

Night Make-up for Nana @ Home (Saturday, 3rd May 2008)

Salam,

My lucky sister Deena always wins contests. This time she won 2 tickets to watch Anugerah Industri Muzik Ke-15 (The 15th Malaysian Music Industry Awards) at PWTC. Of course I would be her make-up artiste of the night, and not forgetting to be the chauffer for her and Ummi :p

As for the look, I wanted her to look chic according to her age, not too loud in being glamourous but still catches the attention. Deena completely loved the whole look, and I was more than ecstatic with the end look.

If you would like to view her photos after the make-over, please log on to my website www.surayanuar.com and click NIGHT MAKE-UP under the MAKE-UP EXPLORATION link.

Shopping for a new handbag @ Nine West, Pavillion, Bukit Bintang (Thursday, 1st May 2008)

Salam,

Ok for those who know me well, they know that I am not a big fan of shopping. I don't really care about going window shopping or make it necessary to hit a sale when there's one in town. I just shop when I know there's something that I really want to have in mind, and I plan what to buy. The times when I really shop are when I receive my shopping allowance from Ayah for Aidilfitri and Aidiladha shopping which is always fun and of course when I go for a vacation anywhere especially overseas, yes that is too because Ayah would give me a huge amount of allowance (according to me the freeloader) so I would really shop like crazy. Ahh good times.

However today, I passed the Nine West store in Pavillion and an image of a handbag made me stopped my tracks. Yes I am a huge fan of perfumes, white watches and white sneakers and also handbags and shoes. This time I saw this handbag on display at Nine West.

A briliantly coloured mock snake skin handbag. I love the colours and I always like the patterns of snake skin and croc skin, but they should be mock of course. It's shameful and creepy at the same time if I have the original animal skin or leather clinging on my body.

I told Ummi I love it, but I was hesitant to purchase it because I felt like it's quite pricey. Ok before this I thought that Nine West's price range was more expensive than Guess? because it seems quite high-end, but actually the price range is more or less similar with Guess? so it is still quite affordable for a student like me.

Ummi advised me that since I have been working hard on my make-up jobs, so once in a while I should reward myself with a nice gift. At least I would have a physical evident of my hard-earned money, instead of just wasting them on paying phone bills hehe. Ummi and I then went home for a while, when I decided later to purchase it. So that night again we both went to Nine West, bought it and I was proud of myself. I was glad because I purchased it with the cash I earned instead of having it as another treat from Ayah or Ummi.

Well photos below are some of the shoes and handbags at Nine West.

Handbags and shoes

I think their selection of shoes and handbags suit my taste. I really adore their shoes especially so insya Allah when I have extra budget and feel like shopping again I will definitely go to Nine West to purchase a nice pair of shoes for me :)

Accessories such as belts and sunglasses

Jom Makan! Italian food @ Pastamania!, Pavillion, Bukit Bintang (Thursday, 1st May 2008)

Salam,

Yes like I have previously told, we were waiting till 2 pm to enjoy the special offer offered by a restaurant in Pavillion. It was the Italian restaurant, Pastamania. I was attracted to dine there when I first came to Pavillion, so this time with their food before so with the 30% off for every meal offer for students, it was perfect for us to dine there for lunch. By the way Pastamania! is located next to J.Co Donuts and facing Beard Papa's.

Good deal huh? I love being a student :p

The dining area of Pastamania! Pretty spacious.

Plates of Pasta to date.. whoa that's a huge amount of pasta!

The menu.

Different types of pasta were displayed.

One of the cooks were preparing pizzas.

The reluctant cashier

Ha this was the cashier for the day. Grr he was hesitant to give us 30% off when we claimed for the offer. Don't play-play with us! :p It was our right to enjoy the offer and we were there at the right time, so yes he gave us 30% off. So there was a huge discount! Thank you! Oh yeah, the mode of payment is that you pay once you have ordered.

Ok now let's move on to the dishes we had for that day. Ok I lost the price list, so sorry guys no prices this time.

The drinks

Seafood Spaghetti ordered by Ummi

I think it was really tasty, the sauce was delicious. Good thing was the seafood came in a huge portion so it was not merely pasta with some seafood.

Carbonara Spaghetti

Ok I'm a fan of Carbonara Spaghetti especially when I desire for its cheesy creamy sauce. As for Pastamania's, the sauce.. ok frankly speaking it tasted more like santan! (coconut milk). Seriously I thought I was daydreaming, but I asked Ina to taste some and she also agreed that it did taste like coconut milk. Ces! So it was really disappointing for me, so my meal was not enjoyable. The Carbonara Spaghetti at Hillside Corner was MUCH better, only that the texture of the sauce at Hills is always a bit TOO CREAMY (delicious for the first few swallows) but after that you would really full you have to have it for take away. But at least that's good, so you can enjoy more Carbonara at home :p

Ina ordered Beef Lasagna

Approximately RM 15

Ina really enjoyed this one! Yes I agree with her. The tomato puree tasted real good, while the huge chunks of beef were abundant. However the Beef lasagna from Delifrance still ranks #1 to me :p

I treated for this one hehe.. Chicken & Pineapple Pizza

This is my favourite selection for pizzas besides Pepperoni. The one from Pastamania! was awesome! It tasted sooo goodd :)

Ummi was stuffed I see :p

Ina was enjoying her lasagna

Ok this is an ugly shot of me :p

Ok this is better.. haha but it's still ugly! :p

They provided each table with a feedback card which was good. So of course I gave them good comments about the pizza and service but not forgetting I also criticized about their santan carbonara hehe.. hopefully they will improve on that! :p

Jom Makan! Cream Puffs @ Beard Papa's, Pavillion, Bukit Bintang (Thursday, 1st May 2008)

Salam,

When we went to Pavillion today, it was quite early for us to have lunch, further more we saw a promotion offer at one of the restaurants, thus we have to wait for us to enjoy that offer.

Yup so we decided to have a quick snack and Ummi offered to treat both Ina and I with some cream puffs from Beard Papa's.

Beard Papa's a.k.a Pak Janggut's

World's best cream puff? I've tried it before and I think I must say so. Why? Will explain more.

Let's have a close up of the cream puffs.

Ummi's paying. 1 Cream Puff, approximately RM 3.50-3.80. Can't really remember the exact price.

Terima kasih Ummi! (Thank you Ummi!)

The packaging; see how the Japs still use their language as the main language though we can't even pronounce them.

The puffs are GIGANTIC (should be because it's RM 3 plus, you might as well could get a plate of fried rice with that kind of price). They are sprinkled with snowy, vanilla powder on top of them.

CRUNCH!
The pastry is super crispy, I mean like REALLY crispy. Then once you bite you would taste the cool vanilla cream inside. Yes it's cool and the sweetness is just right, not too sweet and not too blah as well.

Ina's munching.

Ok I won't be left out too. Apparently we were enjoying our cream puffs at the nearby supermarket, Mercato.

Have a close up of me enjoying it. Yum yum yum.

Oh sungguh nikmat sehingga terpejam mata! Haha! (So much pleasure till my eyes are shut!)

Ayat-Ayat Cinta; the best love fiction I've ever discovered so far.

Salam,

Recently (In June, please bear with the system I use to update blog, which is always about a month late) I've watched the Indonesian da'wah movie Ayat-Ayat Cinta (Sentences of Love) after quite a few recommendations from those who have watched it or better yet, have read the novel.

The great novel written by Indonesian author, Habiburrahman El Shirazy. Ya Akhi you're a genius!

I THANK ALLAH FOR GIVING ME THE CONSCIENCE TO WATCH IT.

I am not exagerrating, I truly mean it. By the way I was really glad that I never had the chance to read the novel first, so the movie experience was not spoilt by any previous knowledge about the synopsis. Coming back to the movie, from my perspective, I discovered that the movie was beautifully made, artistic cinematography which mesmerized me and yes definitely effective acting by the actors especially the main character Fahri (played by Fedi Nuril), which touched my emotions bigtime.

An image of my Fahri and I in the future? Wallahua'lam bil sawab :)

Knowing Fahri made me wept profusely in the cinema (in fact, I EVEN CONTINUED WEEPING AT HOME). After knowing Fahri, I just could not help feeling filthy and hideous. Fahri was the portrayal of a very noble Muslim who's so afraid of committing sins. From what I've learnt about the Prophet Muhammad SAW, Fahri resembles many qualities of him and of course as Muslims know our Holy Prophet SAW is the reflection of the Holy Book al-Qur'anul Kareem. Nobody is perfect except The Prophet Muhammad SAW, and yes Fahri portrays a personality which is almost perfect as a human being and more importantly as the servant of Allah SWT.

The gorgeous Fahri (more beautiful on the inside) looking hot in his aviator sunglasses.

The story in the movie (there are many differences comparing to the novel, yes of course I think the filmakers have had done an almost flawless job adapting the novel since it is impossible to squeeze in the whole novel into the normal duration of a movie) is about an Indonesian post-graduate student in the Al-Azhar University, Egypt. Basically the movie revolves around his life as a student, facing all the challenges as an Indonesian in a foreign country. Secretly, he is admired by many gorgeous women, both physically and internally but they all kept their love buried within their hearts without ever telling Fahri. It's just not mere admiration, but all of them has the greatest desire for no other man than Fahri to be their husband. Fahri on the other hand, only knew that he will get married one day insya Allah, but never attempted to commit into any out of marriage relationships or better known as coupling. As a good Muslim he is, he even asked his closest lecturer to keep all the love letters he received from his admirers because he was so afraid to be defeated by temptation and the deceiving whispers of the Satan or Syaitan.

Maria, Fahri's bestfriend secretly loves him.

One day as Allah has fated, he married a woman which was introduced by his closest lecturer. Aisya, a pious Muslimah who's from a Turkish+German+Palestinian mixture, extremely beautiful and wealthy as well. When he tied the knot, many of his admirers felt tortured for their loss. An Indonesian student, Nurul; his Christian (but perhaps more Islamic in character than most Muslim girls by birth) neighbour, Maria Girgis and a neighbour whom was abused by her family, Noura. However Noura could not control her feelings of sorrow took the wrong step by accusing Fahri for raping her when he had rescued her from her abusive family.

Fahri deep in thoughts, wondering who his soulmate as fated by Allah would be.

Now the movie comes into a twist when Maria, who was in a comma due to her ultimate breakdown knowing about Fahri's marriage, would be the only person who could save Fahri from a heavy sanction from the Courts. Aisha, as a wife who loves her husband more than herself perhaps, sacrificed her soul as a woman by requesting Fahri to wed Maria as his second wife in order to wake her up from her comma. Fahri definitely refused but he knew he had no other choice and wed Maria. As the movie goes on, Fahri was acquitted from the accusation and more conflict begun when it revolves around the issue of polygamous marriage in Islam.

His beautiful akad nikah/ solemnization ceremony with Aisha.

I love the movie because it's actually like reading a da'wah book, but it gives it a splash of entertainment by creating these noble characters making us feel that we could relate with these people. The movie highlighted the issues of proper relationship among non-mahram man and woman, bribery, the proper treatment towards non-Muslims who respect Islam, polygamous marriage and how Fahri's love towards Allah exceeds his love towards anyone else. Many times in the novel it is mentioned that Fahri confesses " My first love is Allah, second is The Prophet Muhammad SAW, then my mother, my mother and my mother and finally my father," indeed this is a Sunnah of The Prophet. The issue of Noura slandering Fahri also reminds us of the history of Prophet Yusuf A.S being falsely accused of sexually harrassing Zulaikha, when the truth is Zulaikha wanted the stunning Prophet Yusuf to be hers.

Fahri sobbing in prison while his cellmate told Fahri that he might have been arrogant before this so he shall repent to Allah.

If you read the novel, every statement written by the author about the reality of Islam was consolidated with the verses of Al-Qur'an, Sunnah (traditions of the Prophet) and many opinions of Islamic jurists as his authority. He also narrated his story by including many mesmerizing poems be it from Indonesian poets and Western poets as well. Indeed reading the novel too, makes me smile and cry with Fahri and without doubt makes me fall in love deeper with him.

Maria is now Fahri's wife, and Fahri is falling for her.

As to how the novel changed me into the better I guess, well I just feel more confident that I can survive without committing into any relationship out of wedlock with any guy. I am not against coupling no, because heck I was in many relationships before the last one, but now I am feeling strongly that I don’t have to practice dating and coupling. The current Suraya feels she doesn’t have to be in a relationship with any man till the day she marries insya Allah.

Aisha was heartbroken witnessing the intimacy between both Maria and Fahri, and decided to leave home to attain some tranquility of mind.

Take Fahri for example, he as a man, when he feels strongly that it's the right time for him to get married, by Allah's wonderful ways he discovered an angel to be his wife. So he just proposed her, get married and they started to taste the pleasure of love after being lawful man and wife. They did not risk themselves of committing many sins which most couples would do because the temptation of Syaitan is always there, and most importantly to me they didn't fear the fear of losing the person they love, you know all those what ifs eg. What if I'm not going to marry him/her? What if something bad happen and I am going to lose him/her?

Maria on her last days realizing that by being Fahri's wife, not necessarily mean that she is the one fated by Allah to win Fahri's love.

So as a conclusion, I am trying to make myself busy with my 21.5 credit hours this semester (phew!) and make-up jobs on almost everyday on every weekend (alhamdulillah). Actually there's another role model (I prefer to keep his identity as a secret) besides Fahri that motivates me not to be in a relationship especially while being a student. He's graduated with flying colours and currently busy with his job as well as preparing for his PhD. He's incredibly goodlooking, intelligent, energetic, funny and religious from my observation, and since the days he was pursuing his law degree till now he never had a girlfriend, but I believe this kind of people, they would just get married when they feel that they have found the perfect candidate.

Insya Allah, by praying to Allah constantly my Fahri will one day discover me, he will come to me, propose my hand for marriage from my parents and we'll get married.

As a du'a (prayer) of the Qur'an states in Al-Furqan (The Criterion) verse 74 & 75 go:

And those who pray " Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous." Those are the ones who will be rewarded with the highest place in heaven, because of their patient constancy; therein shall they be met with salutations and peace.

Amin ya rabbal al-amin.

Jom Makan! @ Hillside Corner Restaurant, Bukit Antarabangsa (UPDATED)

Salam,

Tonight we were having lunch with Ayah at our usual eating spot. Where else the nearest to home is Hillside Corner, Bukit Antarabangsa. So in this post I will update with other dishes we tried. Unfortunately I didn't manage to get the prices except for the Assam Laksa.

Yes Nana ordered this one:

Assam Laksa

RM 8.90

Nana: It's tasty! The portion is generous too. Yes of course they should, it's RM 8.90 for laksa which the cost of its ingredients are not that much.

Me: Yup it's tasty. Thumbs up.

Nana about to devour her Assam Laksa

Nana's poses for the Assam Laksa ad

Ngaaa!!

Isyy lantok kome la! :p

Ayah just couldn't be bothered but layan je la :p Ha see how I told you that Ayah is currently so into his F1 Racer shirts :)

Fried Rice (Couldn't recall which type)

Me: Ok ok je la, nothing to shout about. Should have ordered the Assam Laksa instead.

Crispy Chicken Wings

Ayah: Ape ke he nya macam terbako je ayam ni? (Why do they look like they are burnt?) A bit over-cooked.

Me: Any chicken is good for me. Yum yum.

Di Mana Kedaulatan Bahasa Melayu??? (Where is the sovereignty of the Malay language?)

Salam,

I recently went to Pavillion, Bukit Bintang on Labour Day public holiday (please ignore the date above because I had wrongly saved the draft). Actually I have noticed this on the first time I came to Pavillion and I would like to highlight it in this post.

On my previous post Jom Makan! @ Yoshinoya, Signatures KLCC I have mentioned about how more and more shopping malls, residential areas and condominiums in Kuala Lumpur are registered by using English names instead of Malay names. I mean we live in Malaysia, supposedly we are proud to use our national language to reflect our identity.

Seriously, names such as The Curve, Pavillion, Mid Valley Mega Mall, The Gardens, Star Hill (translation for Bukit Bintang, what for?), Berjaya Times Square (Oh come one this Times Square is nothing near the one in New York I bet) are really bugging me. Why can't we name our malls with Malay names instead? Take Indonesia for example, their shopping places be it the traditional or modern exclusive malls are named using Bahasa Indonesia proudly, regardless whether they might sound funny or not, it's their language so they are proud of it. Names such as Blok M, Mal Kelapa Gading, Mangga Dua, Gelodok, Tanah Abang; well do they sound anything English? Not even Dutch I bet if we want to look back at their history. Even their them park is named as Dunia Fantasi. Why not Fantasy World? The answer is plain and simple; because it's not Indonesian. We must also realize that not only in Indonesia, but as well as in Thailand, Japan, France, Germany and many other European countries, they are all very proud of their language.

Residential areas and condominiums which are erecting nowadays, well just look in KL places named nearby KL Pac for instance; Sentul Park, Sentul East & Sentul West, what's wrong with naming them Taman Sentul, Sentul Timur or Sentul Barat? Hey come on, Sentul is Sentul, I don't think some 'classy' English names could uplift its class. Please. Yes to name more, Beverly Heights (Ya Allah ni lagi perasan) , Platinum Victory, 20 Trees, Armani Damansara (Oh sungguh Itali) well what for? To give a classy feeling? KONON!

Yes back to the photos here, these were snapped at the food court in Pavillion, Food Republic (again again, in English). Check out the photos here to understand more:

The words Food Republic are beaming brightly in blue and white neon lights on an a very dark board giving it a good contrast. You could see the words literally from a mile away.

Next to the Food Republic words, are displayed in a much smaller font are the words 'Medan Selera' which means food court in Malay. Letters in BLACK on an ALMOST BLACK board. Don't you think that they don't even have to put any effort of putting them up. What for?? I think it's just meant to insult Bahasa Melayu which is supposed to be the national language.

Come on, please, DBKL tolonglah buat kerja! Yes for you who have been reading my blog I use English most of the time, the reason is because by using English it would be easier for readers all over the world to discover my talent in make-up. Further more, I write mostly about the attractions in Malaysia especially because I am proud of our culture and heritage, thus by writing in English, indirectly I could promote my beloved Malaysia to the world. However honestly if you meet me in person, I am a person who speaks Malay most of the time, because it is my mothertongue. Bahasa menunjukkan bangsa kan?

Yes another thing I would like to point out is dedicated to our respected leaders especially our Prime Minister, Pak Lah. He was the one whom launched the opening of Pavillion, well if I were him I would instantaneously asked the administrators of Pavillion to change its name. Unfortunately, even on the news Pak Lah speaks English when he is interviewed (sadly he is always asked by the reporters in Bahasa Melayu). It is very painful to see him speaking in English, while Bahasa Melayu is communicated by the translations at the lower part of the screen.

How ironic, is MALAY the SECOND LANGUAGE in MALAYsia?

Seriously I hope that we would not turn out to be the next Singapore nauzubillahi min zalik. By protecting the sovereignty of our language, in a way it means we as Malays are protecting our rights in other matters as well.

Celikkanlah mata, celikkanlah hati.

Peter Pan's Concert @ Stadium Negara (Sunday, 27th April 2008)

Salam,

This is the treat I told you my beloved cousin, Kak Nurul was giving us. She treated both my sis and I for Peter Pan's concert for their recent Malaysian tour. I am a fan of Peter Pan's songs especially..oh so many to mention because many of them have been dedicated to me by the few men in my life. Hahaha, ok I'm not a playgirl but just that it's a coincident that they chose Peter Pan's songs to dedicate to me. I love them all, I mean the songs hehe, and the songs which have been special in my heart are Tak Bisakah, Ada Apa Denganmu, Mungkin Nanti, Tentang Kita, Mimpi Yang Sempurna, Ku Katakan Dengan Indah and the most special one I guess is Menunggumu. *sigh* Well you know who you are who have burnt them in a mixed CD for me, and of course for those who have sang them to me. I will not forget a single thing :)

My ticket

Ok now Sue don't get all emotional coz you know you'll be all teary-eyed in no time. Ok back to the concert, yes I watched Peter Pan live before at their Hari Yang Cerah showcase at Ruums, KL. Back then the album was just newly released so the new songs were unfamiliar to me, so tonight it should be better because I know more of their latest songs.

So after I finished my theatre training, I went home to fetch my sis and rushed to Kak Nurul's house. I didn't even have time to bathe and I couldn't even be bothered to put on any fresh make-up so just imagine how smelly I was, and of course unattractive would be understating my appearance at that time. :p

Kak Nurul's hot hubby (Ok Kak Nurul, yes Abang AJ is hot :p) sent us to the stadium. It was funny and adorable looking at my nieces, Misha and Minda telling their mummy, "Mama be sure that you won't come home late!" in a bossy way.

Kak Nurul and Nana all excited for the concert

With our busy manager :p

We sat at the RM 35 tickets area. I was really glad though because I was too tired to be among the standing crowd. I just wanted to enjoy some good live music with my loved ones here. It's always fun to hang out with Kak Nurul because despite the fact that she's the eldest female cousin in the family, she's the youngest at heart (Ok it's a tie with my sis Nana) and she's damn hillarious.

Well, Nitrus was the first opening act. They performed alright and I think the frontman has a good control of his vocals.

However I was screaming my lungs out when Hujan appeared on stage, and of course when the tune of my favourite jam Aku Skandal was played. In fact I was more excited to watch Hujan more than Peter Pan. Oh my God, Noh is not really like drop-dead gorgeous but his charisma on stage, man, I was just speechless. His boyish bowl-cut hair, over long fringe covering his eyes just made my eyes glued on him. And man, he was the SEXIEST everytime he shook his head to the back quickly to remove his hair a bit from covering his eyes too much. I screamed everytime he did that. Haha talk about exploding female hormones inside. Istighfar banyak-banyak Sue.. gugur iman kang :p

Another thing which was awesome about Hujan, ok about Noh again, his gruffy vocals really cut-through the music. Awesome. I love Hujan's energy, they jumped up and down really high on stage like Energizer bunnies haha. They, especially Noh reminded me of the showmanship of MY Duta from Sheila On 7 (hehe, forever and ever!) and Armand from Gigi. You know, their high effort to be incredibly energetic makes u feel worth it to buy tickets for their performances. Also I was proud that AG from Coco as one of the sessionist in Hujan, ok I don't know him personally but he was one of the back-up vocals when I performed with Waheeda on Pentas Idola in 2006. Kalau tak silap it was him. It's amazing to see that Hujan is really doing well now, and for those who said that they are demanding, I opine that they have the right to demand for their rights. If they deserve to be well-paid so do that. Please treat our local bands with more dignity, respect and acknowledgment. Stop paying too much for foreign acts especially Indonesian artistes when they are just known by one or two hit single.

And to Hujan, jangan sombong noo... :)

Yup now Peter Pan appeared. Mula la peminat-peminat fanatik Indon makin meghoyan. Adoii. The fanatic Indonesian fans from the RM 35 seats jumped down like cavemen to the RM 70 tickets area without any care. However, the RELA men really guarded well because they were facing the audience sitting instead of facing the stage. It was satisfying when I saw the bouncers pushed those intruders back up to where they belong. Yes we should be strict with this kind of people. Funny thing was when I remarked, 'Whoa, diorang lompat jauh tu." (Whoa they jumped really far.) Kak Nurul in a cool tone just said, " Sue lagi kan dari seberang diorang boleh naik bot ke sampai berenang, takde mende je lompat takat jauh tu." (Sue, even from across the ocean managed to enter Malaysia by boat and even swam, that kind of jump is nothing to them.) Haha true that.

Some of the fanatic fans, well I call them the rambut gondrong ones, some have taken off their shirts which was annoying of course. Fortunately at my area, all the fans were really cool and calm and remained seated without going overboard. Even the two Indonesian guys seated next to me were kind of cute and kept recording the concert using their phones. They were even a bit started looking at Kak Nurul and Nana being more hysterical than them :p

One thing which still remains as a curiosity in our minds is the phrase 'Baru Kelintheng!' written on most of the Indon guys' T-Shirts and gigantic banners they brought. We kept wondering what does it mean, Kak Nurul assumed that it means 'Baru la rock kot..' haha. So any Indonesian here perhaps, what does it mean actually?

As for Peter Pan's performance, the music was awesome. Disappointingly, the sound system was a bit upsetting because we kept hearing Ariel's voice kept breaking. Like it was not smooth and clear. Or was it just his vocals? Hmm since Noh's was excellent. Though I think it must be the sound system because Ariel's face looked from time to time like he was disturbed with it and kept fixing his earplug.

Ariel's communication skills were still at the same level, kept saying 'Are you having fuuunn???' and kept dedicating most of the songs to his mantan-mantan pacar gue (to my ex lovers.. haha an obvious player). Yeah, another thing I noticed about Ariel's performance was that he kept 'giving' the mic to the audience and asked the audience to sing along with him at the first few verses of his songs, when it comes to almost the end, then only he would really sing by himself. Haha yes another thing that made us tickled was Ariel kept saying "Ok ayuh kita lanjutttt!" meaning let's continue. It's just that he said that too many a time that we couldn't help laughing.

By the way, for the fanatic audience that were really all out enjoying themselves especially the Indonesian blue collar workers in Malaysia, I understand why they were really acting all hysterical. Perhaps this was the only night where they could really, I mean really release all the stress they're facing due to over-loaded work, financial problems or whatever problems they were facing. So I was glad that they really enjoyed themselves. Just as long as they didn't cause any nuisance at the concert.

In fact, at one of the constructions sites near MRR 2 nearby home, I saw on the wall of one of the huts the workers live in there, there's a poster of that Peter Pan's concert. I would just smile thinking that we were at the same concert, enjoying ourselves to the max. :)

And oh yes, Makasih banyak ya Kak Nughul! :)
